This sea lion has a calm strength and proud posture that I really enjoyed knitting into form. I was inspired by watching sea lions bask in the sun, stretching tall toward the breeze. The subtle gradient works best with earth or sandy tones in DK yarn — perfect for larger projects where you want a bold, serene centerpiece.

This sea lion sweater pattern was inspired by a dear friend who, while beautifully pregnant, joked that her movements felt just like a seal’s. That image — warm, tender, and gently playful — stayed with me and became the heart of this cozy winter design.
The result is a relaxed pullover featuring a charming sea lion motif in the center front. The sweater is worked flat and seamed, with ribbed edges and classic shaping. The pattern includes detailed written instructions and a colorwork chart for the motif. It's designed for knitters who enjoy meditative projects with a creative twist.
